How to Speak English Clearly & Avoid Repeating Yourself
1. Slow Down Your Pace
Most misunderstandings happen when speaking too quickly. Speak 10–20% slower than you think you should. This gives your listener’s brain time to process your words.
2. Pause Effectively
A well placed pause highlights important ideas, keeps your listener engaged and gives you time to gather your thoughts.
Pausing isn’t about awkward silence, it is about building your listener’s attention using the natural rhythm in your speech.
3. Connect Your Words (Don’t Speak Like a Robot)
English sounds natural when words flow together. Avoid pausing after every word. Instead, link words smoothly.
Example:
➡️ Instead of: Take. Your. Pills. At. Night.
➡️ Say: Take~your~ pills~at~night.
4. Stress The Key Words
Stress the words that carry the main meaning of your sentence such as nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs.
